  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Hey Claire! Those photos are great! Makes me want to go to NYC so bad!

I can totally relate to purchasing jeans that are way too expensive. I met my best friend in NYC a few years ago and it was my birthday. After *a few* glasses of wine -- there we are, both in the same dressing room stall no bigger than 2'x 2' trying on jeans and laughing our heads off. And I ended up buying a pair that were so embarassingly expensive, I will never admit ever in my entire life how much they were. And they were *funky* ones too -- NOT the kind you would get a ton of wear out of....ahhhh. Memories.

Thanks for sharing!

They let you take pictures inside MOMA? Cool. The galleries generally don't allow them here.
